Finally, Wilson told us why and what we should quit. His presentation was not only interesting but extremely inspirational.
My takeaways from this presentation: He has an amazing story. He also left me deciding to quit… (you’ll have to listen to his presentation to see what I mean). I’ve changed my “Reason Why” because of this presentation, it was so powerful.

Next up as Teresa Miller, who talked about “Your Freestyle Business Card Book“, which defines you, your business, and your brand in one unique book.
Teresa has been a self-publishing expert and coach since 2010, and has not only authored and published her own book, but has coached and assisted numerous others as well.
Teresa explained why you need a book to establish your authority in your field, command higher fees with less resistance, spread the word about your products and services, build a loyal fan base, set yourself up for more speaking engagements, and capture more JV and partner deals.
A business card book is something that can also be something that a marketer can create for his clients at a very profitable rate.
My takeaway: This was Teresa Miller’s first presentation. She told me she would be terrified, but would do it anyway, and she did a wonderful job. Her presentation about Business Card Books taught me something, and I later heard from John Rhodes that business card books is one of the 3 types of self publishing that you can really make good money with. I never would have guessed, until now.

John S. Rhodes is the relatively new Chief Marketing Officer for Rapid Crush, Inc.and spoke about “The #1 Most Mind Blowing Idea for Entrepreneurs: SELL OUT!“
John had been a very successful independent marketer for several years and stunned his colleagues when he decided to transition back to full time employment with Rapid Crush, and he explained why that decision was right for him, even though he was still hugely successful as an entrepreneur
His personal story, which began in his childhood, had the audience in his grasp. Although he had always been an entrepreneur from the beginning, he learned lessons early on that selling out was often the right decision for him.
My takeaway from John’s presentation was that you need to create a business, a brand, goodwill, a personality, and a money machine, so that if the opportunity came to sell out, your business would be attractive to a prospective purchaser. Regardless of your current feeling about “going back” you want to leave yourself the option in case it presents itself.
My takeaway: John Rhodes was the anti-entrepreneur in the speaker group, talking about why he went from a very successful entrepreneur’s business to holding a job again. I doubt that I’d follow his path, especially at my age, but it was great food for thought, and how he handled leaving his prior position was eye opening.

Next up on stage was Justin Popovic, who presented on the topic “Entrepreeur Instinct: The Mindset and Behavior of Successful Business Owners”.
Justin came from a background of success with a major corporate employer, and one day decided he wanted to control his own destiny. Over the years, he’s discovered what he feels is the root cause of success for entrepreneurs, and although there are many traits of successful business people, he shared why he believes that one thing is responsible more than any other.
Chances are, after listening to Justin’s presentation, you’ll walk away with a new appreciation for what it takes to be a successful entrepreneur and ready to reach a level of success that has eluded you in the past.
My takeaway: Justin Popovic, as always, inspired me and everyone around me with his talk about the mindset and behavior of successful business owners. I can never get enough of Justin’s wisdom.

Next up was Chris Miyamoto, who currently is employed as the Search Engine Marketing Manager for a large company, and is responsible for driving millions of dollars worth of marketing leads to his business.
Chris has been doing search engine marketing since 2009, and includes not only basic SEO in his skill set, but he also handles a multi-million dollar pay per click budget.
Chris is also the leader of a large meetup group in Santa Clarita, California where he frequently teaches his methods to others.
He is obviously not only an expert in his field, but also passionate about the methods he uses to achieve success in the SERPs. We almost had to use a hook to get him off the stage when his time was up. 
My takeaway: Chris volunteered to fill a vacancy at the last minute. He is a master search engine expert and gave us more than our money’s worth of information. If you want more traffic, watch this one.

Our last speaker for the first day was Brenda Trott, whose presentation was titled “How to Stay in Business (Despite Bad Luck)“.
When Brenda first pitched her idea for her talk to me, my initial reaction was that it would be something that would depress the audience, but she assured me that she was able to overcome the challenges she had been facing.
One of the mottoes that she lives by, and shared with the audience, was “Some people are born lucky, and others are lucky to be born”.
Challenges occur, and Brenda shared 3 ways to stay in business despite them. And (spoiler alert), yes, she was able to overcome the challenges of 2014 using her methods. Perhaps her advice will help you win over your inevitable future challenges as well.
My takeaway: Brenda Trott was a volunteer speaker and I squeezed her into the agenda. When she pitched her topic to me, I thought it might be too depressing of a story for us, but she promised an upbeat ending, and she nailed it. You’ll love her story about how she overcame adversity because if it hasn’t happened to you yet, it very well might.

On Sunday, Kristen Joy was first up, selected to start the day and wake up the assembled crowd.
Kristen’s topic was titled “How to Dominate Your Niche on Amazon and Google“.
Kristen is known as the “Book Ninja”, is a highly sought-after publishing authority and coach, a multi best-selling author and international speaker. She honed her writing and publishing skills in the past by writing and publishing 18 books in 18 weeks, and hasn’t looked back since.
Similarly she challenges her students to get going and get published, and her advice in this presentation will be sure to help you as well.
My takeaway: Kristen Joy, the Book Ninja, impressed me as someone who became a successful self publisher by just plain working hard, and now working smart, and she’s obviously not shy about sharing what made her successful.

Connie Ragen Green was next. I’ve known Connie for about 5 years and consider her to be a great friend, and marvel at the way she’s able to build relationships and trust with her email lists and JV partners.
Connie has spoken several times at the Earn1KaDay event, in addition to running her own seminars.
This year she spoke about “Book, Blog, Broadcast: The Trifecta for Entrepreneurial Success”.
In her talk, Connie shared her simple 3-step plan for massive credibility, visibility, and profitability, which includes publishing books, blogging, and podcasting.
My takeaway: Connie Ragen Green’s presentation was about how to combine three skills to ensure your success. I’m not doing the broadcast part at all myself yet, but will be soon, especially because of Connie’s inspiration here.

We were far from done, even though the audience was starting to feel that their heads were bursting with concrete and actionable information.
Next was Adrienne Dupree, who still works a full time job in Washington, but manages to also find time to earn extra money with the Amazon FBA program. Her presentation was titled “How to Net $1000 a Month With Amazon FBA Working Part-Time“.
She went into great detail on the following points:
Seller Central Account, What can you sell?, FBA fees, Best seller rank, 10 step process, Where to find bargains, Profitability, Pricing, Her numbers, Avoiding account suspension, and more.
Adrienne says she does this all, and earns in excess of $1000 per month profit, in just a few hours a week.
My takeaway: Adrienne Dupree is a mentee of Connie’s, and while working full time at her job still is able to carve out a few hours a week to devote to her Amazon FBA business doing retail arbitrage. She shared how she earns $1000 a month profit doing so.

Jon Griffin has been my local Las Vegas contact since I started running the seminars there in 2010, and during this past year he changed professions from being an adjunct professor at UNLV to writing for Kindle. His presentation was titled “Your Fiction Empire Awaits“.
While most Internet marketers write and publish non-fiction works, Jon no longer considers himself to be an IM’er, and has found success writing fiction.
Jon answered questions such as why write fiction, what if you have no imagination, how to outsource some tasks if necessary, the importance of excellent covers, editors (multiple types), how to market your books in various ways including permafree, Facebook ads, advanced topics, what to do if you get the occasional and inevitable bad review, what tools he uses, and more.
He told the audience that he typically earns $160 from each $40 that he spends in Facebook advertising.
My takeaway: Jon Griffin gave a talk about Kindle fiction, and how he’s been able to profit quite nicely in the last several months. I wish I had the imagination to do the same, but even if I don’t, I can still aspire to his success through outsourcing maybe. Great information there.

The last formal presentation was from Gene Pimentel. This was Gene’s 6th time speaking at Earn1KaDay conferences, and invariably attendees (and those who invest in the recordings) tell me that his instruction was a highlight, giving them steps that they can take immediately (a.k.a. right away) to earn income.
Gene’s presentation this year was titled “Turning Domain Names to Cash: One Benjamin at a Time (Gene’s Greatest Hits)”.
Gene gave 3 rock-solid, actionable methods to profit with domain names. He first explained that there are thousands of domains sold every single day for hundreds and thousands of dollars each.
Gene’s domain sales are typically in the range of $500 to $2,000 each, and are registered for as little as a dollar each. He’s sold a domain name for as much as $24,000, and is definitely one of the top industry experts. He went into great detail about his methods.
My takeaway: And Gene Pimentel… what can I say? He talked about his domaining “greatest hits” and provided 3 ways to profit with buying and selling domain names. I would say that anyone could do at least one, if not all three, of his methods, and this was another presentation that could pay off the entire cost of the seminar, including travel and more, if someone takes action. I can always count on Gene, and he had many of his fans in the room wearing special master domaining t-shirts.

Finishing off the seminar was an Expert’s Panel about self publishing.
On the panel were myself, Brenda Trott, Mathea Waldman Ford, Geoff Hoff, Kristen Joy, Teresa Miller, Shawn Hansen, Connie Ragen Green, and Jon Griffin. The panel discussions lasted almost 90 minutes and gave great insight into methods of creating income using Kindle self-publishing.
My takeaway: The Self Publishing Experts panel was put together with short notice on Sunday, and I asked a question about my own personal Kindle business. The answers were amazing, and cut to the core of my problem, I hope. It might help you also if you do or will be publishing on Kindle. Of course there was much more shared than the answer to my question.
